Takuro Tamura's new solo exhibition “Road and Unroad”
The Chain Museum, which operates ArtSticker, and Fons, which operates The CITY BAKERY, have opened Gallery & Bakery Tokyo 8 minutes on the 1st floor of TODA BUILDING in Kyobashi, Tokyo, which opened in 2024/11. In this 14th exhibition, artist Takuro Tamura's new solo exhibition Road and Unroad” will be held from 2025/12/27 (Sat).
Tamura was born in 1989 in Osaka. Tamura's works are born from small feelings of incongruity and discovery hidden in everyday scenes. By taking motifs related to transportation and urban infrastructure, such as asphalt, road signs, and car mirrors, and separating them from their original context and function, they have given a completely new meaning and presence. With a keen eye for observation, reliable technology, and a sense of play, we are reconstructing familiar things from a poetic and critical perspective.
Also, Tamura focuses on scenes and objects that are overlooked in everyday life, scoops up the ambiguity and uncertainty they have, and transforms them into works with quiet humor and romance. This practice is a critical look at modern society, and at the same time, it is also an attempt to awaken the senses and memories we have in our everyday lives.
This exhibition consists of two series: a two-dimensional work of “Record of the Road Itself Rediymade (Road)” and a three-dimensional work of “The Concept of the Road TORNCEPT (Unknown Road).” Be sure to experience the accidental discoveries hidden in Tamura's works inspired by everyday scenes at the venue.
