This final auction of 2025 will feature 606 works by masters who have left an impressive mark on the history of Japanese art. A diverse collection of exquisite Japanese art, cherished across the ages, will be brought together under one roof, including an Edo Rinpa work by Kiitsu, a rare flower basket by Taikan, an autumn plants painting by Shunso, an auspicious rising sun by Kano Hogai, a bijin-ga by Togo Seiji, calligraphy and paintings by Matsuo Basho, woodblock prints by Munakata Shiko, and an elegant tea bowl by Itaya Hazan.
The special feature will focus on Ohashi Suiseki, known for his majestic tiger paintings; Tanaka Isson, whose retrospective at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum remains vivid in our memories; Tsutaka Waichi, who left behind abstract paintings filled with poetic sentiment; and Hakuin Ekaku, the founder of the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism, who produced numerous Zen paintings with a touch of humor.
